Alyssa Pratt 15 years old from Minot, ND
At the end of Alyssa’s 8th grade year at the age of 14 she began not feeling well and experienced, tiredness, horrible headaches, and bruising. June 10, 2009
Alyssa went to the doctor in Minot and that is when she received the news that she had Leukemia. The doctor in Minot made a call to Sanford Children’s Hospital
where they connected Alyssa and her family to Dr. Nathan Kobrinski, pediatric oncologist.
Alyssa and her family recall a long silent trip to Fargo, Alyssa was scared of the unknown. Shortly after arrival at Sanford Children's Hospital, Fargo, it was
confirmed that Alyssa was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) the good kind. Alyssa's treatment will be a 2½ year treatment plan with frequent
visits to Fargo for her inpatient and outpatient treatments.
Alyssa has remained very positive throughout this entire experience. She has always wanted to be pharmacist and now specifically would like to be a chemo
therapist. She has been named the 2010 North Dakota Children's Miracle Network Champion. Last June, Alyssa represented North Dakota and Sanford Children's Hospital,
Fargo in Washington, DC and will be traveling to Orlando, FL in November to meet up with the other 54 Children’s Miracle Network Champions to conclude her role

Today, Alyssa is currently in remission and on maintenance treatment. Her hospitalization and treatment of Cancer has been relieved because of the support
from Children's Miracle Network. Alyssa has benefited from the handful of special programs unique to sick and injured children of all ages that are fully funded
