Ann Pate

Meet Ann... nominated by Jessica Davis

When my family moved to Wadena in 1990, my family instantly connected with Ann's family. Ann was an active volunteer in the community and a great leader in our Girl Scout troop. Overtime, Ann and I lost touch, but she was always there for my mom. She played a pivotal role in supporting my mother and keeping her strong during my parent's divorce. Then, I was again reminded of Ann's kindness this past summer when my mom past away around the same time that the tornado swept the town of Wadena. Ann so graciously spent many days acting just like another mother. She brought my family meals while we took care of my mom's house and belongings and also found other friends to volunteer time to help us. She promised my mom that she would take care of us, and that is exactly what she did and continues to do.

However, Ann's heart is devoted to more than just helping families she has a direct connection with. I remember one day, after a long day of helping us at my mom's house, I drove by the cemetery that had been destroyed in town, and who should I see but Ann. Ann was there volunteering more time to assist with the clean up. That's Ann... she never stops giving to the community and has yet to receive the recognition she really deserves. This woman is amazing! Thank you for giving me the chance to let Ann know how much her self-less actions and overflowing generosity have helped so many people!
